Birket Engineering is a control system integrator, specializing in ride & show control systems for the themed entertainment industry. We design, assemble, install, and commission the hardware and software systems that control some of the world’s best known attractions. Our equipment may be found in every Universal and Walt Disney Company park. Birket is best known for life-safety control systems on stunt shows, fire & pyro effects, and exciting gravity and water rides. Our Birket Specialty Lighting division provides unique lighting systems seen on the world’s best know iconic architecture and lighted costumes. Birket’s Firelinx division provides the world’s safest and most full-featured wireless pyrotechnic control systems.

Job Description

Working under the direction of senior electrical engineers, this person will assist in the designing, programming, testing, optimizing, and documenting of industrial-style control system for the themed entertainment industry.

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Designing industrial-style control systems, containing but not limited to (PLCs, industrial Ethernet networks, distributed I/O, drives motors, sensors, industrial users interfaces, power management, surge suppression)
  • Domestic and foreign installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems for extended periods of time
  • Composition of testing plans, user/maintenance manuals, and system documentation
  • Aid in system hazard analysis process
  • Research best solutions for engineering problems at hand
  • Continual progress updating to project management
Required Qualifications:
  • B.S.E.E. or equivalent education
  • At least five years experience in the theme park, industrial automation, or other “controls” industry
  • Proficient with AutoCAD assembly and schematic design
  • Proficient with Allen-Bradley products and component specifications
  • Experience with industrial drives, motors, and motion control principles
  • Familiarity with industry standards (UL508A, NFPA79,IEC, NEC)
  • Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and be self-motivated 
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline oriented work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Allen-Bradley Controllogix, Guardlogix, and Drives configuration/setup/programming experience
  • Rockwell FactoryTalk View Studio HMI software configuration/setup/programming experience
  • Inductive Automation Ignition HMI software configuration/setup/programming experience
  • Weigl ProCommander software configuration/setup/programming experience
  • Familiarity with safety standards IEC/EN 62061 and EN ISO 13849
