Award-winning Birket Engineering has been thrilling the world’s audiences with custom electrical & software systems since 1984.
Founder Glenn Birket began with Walt Disney Imagineering in 1979. He left as a Senior Electronic Engineer/Ride Group Leader in 1984 to establish Birket Engineering. Glenn was responsible for all control systems on Epcot’s American Adventure pavilion, then the largest and most complex of any Disney project.
By 1990, Disney’s MGM Studios and Universal Studios Florida opened, utilizing Birket’s engineering capabilities, and with it came an increase of employees. Through the nineties, world theme park development continued, and Birket’s employee’s grew with it.
Birket experienced global expansion with the establishment of Birket Engineering Shanghai in 2007 and Birket Engineering Hong Kong in 2008, supporting increasing Asian sourcing and production efforts.
Universal Studios Singapore and Shanghai Disneyland saw development during 2008-2010 and 2013-2016 respectively. Birket’s worldwide staff increased to 90 during the Shanghai Disney effort.
What began as a small one-man shop has now surpassed 100 employees. Birket equipment may be found throughout the US & Asia and in every Universal Studios & Walt Disney Company park in the world. For Glenn and all of Birket Engineering this is a huge milestone, with Birket continuing to grow and support the themed entertainment industry worldwide.
