Successful exams complete multiyear process
WINTER GARDEN, FL – 02 APRIL 2014 – Received today was formal notice indicating Birket Principal Engineers Glenn McNair and Dan Birket have satisfied the requirements allowing them to use the title FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland).
The TÜV Functional Safety Program supports engineers in deepening their knowledge and experience to achieve a worldwide, recognized functional safety designation aligned to international standards.
TÜV Rheinland Industrial Services GmbH (TÜV Rheinland), business unit Automation and Functional Safety, issues certificates to engineers who have a professional background in engineered safety systems, have successfully participated in the SAF-TUV1 and SAF-TUV2 training courses, and pass a 4-hour final exam.
Coursework includes Risk Analysis, Safety Devices, Safety Functions of Machines and Standards. Successful candidates understand how safety devices and components are assembled and applied to reduce hazards from machinery, so the safety necessary for people and the environment is guaranteed. In addition to the technical requirements, organizational measures and an understanding of life-cycle design and validation documentation and quality assurance is required. Training covers IEC60204, IEC62061, ISO12100:2010 and ISO13849 parts 1-2.
