June 12th was the Media Opening of
Geauga Lake's Free Fall Ride

The event started with Dr. Thadeus Jekyl, the grandson of the notorious Dr. Jekyl, announcing he was going to redeem the scientific integrity of his ancestor with Geauga Lake's latest attraction. He called it the Power of 13.

Here is an excerpt from his speech explaining the phenomenon: "Those who wish to experience this new phenomenon are lifted 13 stories above the earth, and released . . . Once we put the molecular structure of the human body in direct conflict with the emotional impact of the individual spirit, and the G forces applied to the body are increased . . . Then the genetic structure attains a point of critical mass. When this happens, the POWER OF 13 overcomes the negative senses, and a complete state of euphoria is achieved."

As he came down the ride he was transformed into Mr. Hyde!

The Project Manager for this Attraction was Jack Baker, an experienced veteran of Theme Park Project Management. He has overseen several projects for the Premier Organization (owners of Geauga Lake Park). Jack is also currently the Project Manager for the new Hook's Lagoon Attraction due to open later this Summer.

Technical expertise was provided by the Geauga Lake Maintenance Department under the supervision of Tony Bologna, director of Maintenance. The technically diversified members of this department provided the sustaining mechanical and electrical support necessary to ensure the completion of the ride in a safe and efficient manner.

Birket Engineering supplied the electrical hardware and software for control of the ride operations.
